I tried to find out how that person did it. ^ that is the information regarding the outside video source I looked into. But it has xvid codec.įormat profile : Advanced settings, BVOP : 1Ĭhannel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE The compression method was lossy for the video which is exactly what I want. Writing library : VirtualDubMod build 2542/release Writing application : VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 (build 2542/release) I used mediainfo for that outside source video I talked about (avi container with ac3 audio) and here is what was reported: And I have gotten a bit further to my goal. Thus converting mkv (for example) to avi but retain the 5.1 audio(ac3/dts). Majority of video converters accept output to ac3 with the exception of using mp4 only. the only other alternative is to convert the videos I have with 5.1 channels to mp4. Any help guys? I know its possible but I suppose its probably more complicated than what I did. I have some videos on my computer that is avi and has 5.1 channels and plays well on my external media players. I am also dealing with ac3 right now but, wondering if its possible to do this with dts. I'm using mkv video files mainly with 5.1 channels. And some of my other media players would confirm this since it reads avi's and this one (or many I made) came out corrupted but played well on my PC. I tried some programs that claimed it did like "avidemux 2.6" and all it did was encode the video mkv to avi. Other programs I am aware does not support muxing and saving it to avi container nor even accept avi as a whole. I then muxed them together with AVIMux_GUI. the process was too complicated and tedious (yes I did it though) but it came out corrupted or wrong- even after converting mkv to avi with no sound and stripping the audio (ac3 5.1) separately. Some methods I used was like demuxing the audio and video. Images in the teaser image: (c) copyright 2008, Blender Foundation / been doing trials and error on my behalf through research on google. And of course there are also pure command line programs for such tasks such as fmpeg, but with Avidemux you also have a graphical editor at your disposal.Īddendum: Not all Avidemux features can be used so easily via CLI, even if it is according to the documentation - here the solution. Of course you can still add and tweak a lot to the script, but the script works. This completes the script and you can start dragging files onto the meinkonverter.bat icon in Windows Explorer. If so, go back to loop and the fun starts all over again, now with video2.avi. The second if query looks again if there is still a file name/argument in %1 stuck - if not, the script is over again. Shift now shifts all variables one up, speak de %1 gets the content of %2 and is now thus video2.avi. If so, come loop: Here Avidemux is executed with the current file (%1 = video1.avi) and your previously set settings. The first if query checks whether a file name is in %1 is located - if not, the script is over. However, Avidemux cannot handle multiple files itself, so the video files must be placed one by one in %1 Loading. Short explanation: If your using a script about meinkonverter.bat video1.avi video2.avi video8.aviĬalls, then stuck first video1.avi in the variable %1 and video2.avi in the variable %2 and so forth. Outsourced in this way, it is simply clearer and easier to change - you can also create a lot of converters, for example for Messenger, for Youtube, your media center, grandma's digital picture frame or whatever. %avidemux% -video-codec %videocodec% -audio-codec %audiocodec% -output-format %outputformat% -load "%1" -save "%1_normalized.mkv" -quitįirst to the area set: This is where the settings are made, on the one hand for the Avidemux EXE and on the other hand for your conversion preferences. Here one minimal version of such a script, about myconverter.bat: set avidemux="C:\Program Files\Avidemux 2.6 - 64 bits\avidemux_cli.exe" So one has to Batch file her: Then you can simply use any video files via Drag and drop onto the icon draw. And only at 20! The assignment of names alone is annoying, usually it's something like ORIGINALNAME_converted.mkv or something like that.Īvidemux also has a CLI interface, along the lines of: avidemux Format:MKV Video:x264 Audio:MP3 Name:ORIGINALNAME_konvertiert meinvideo.aviĪ terminal window opens and closes automatically and you get a file ORIGINALNAME_converted.mkv.īut of course nobody wants to constantly have to open the terminal and remember syntax. Nevertheless: You start the GUI, open the video, click on "Save", select the folder, enter a name. Basically, working with it is pretty easy: open the video, set the settings, start the conversion - and the settings are already set for the next video. Avidemux is a long-established open-source tool and reliably serves as a super-simple graphical cutting solution and extremely faster Converter.
